REK is a wildlife artist based in Brisbane, Queensland. His fusion style artwork focusses heavily on the avian world and responds directly to the threat faced by wildlife through loss of habitat and human interference.
The beauty and intricate details found in the natural world in particular native and exotic birdlife, are his key focus. Delicate natural elements are often married against patterned fabrics creating a unique interplay between the painted subject and printed backdrop.
REK Studied at the Brisbane Institute of Art and BPC Studio. He has exhibited consistently in Brisbane and the Gold Coast since 2008.
His work has proliferated in recent years and has been sold to collectors from every corner of the country and overseas. His artwork has been commissioned for children’s books, appeared on Chanel 10’s Healthy Homes Australia and has been a finalist in notable art prizes in Australia. He has been a member of the Queensland Wildlife Artist’s Wildlife Society since 2018. In 2020 he was invited to judge the Royal Qld Art Societies annual prize and was guest artist at their exhibition
REK has always used his work to support and raise awareness for various charities, donating Dozens of paintings over the years to raise funds for The Prince Charles Hospital ICU, The RBWH foundation, Children’s Hospital Foundation and The Perry Cross Spinal Research Foundation.
