Reconnection is a series of work that imagines sending a message, either outward, in an attempt to reach others, or inward, to the depths of our own being. It plays with the idea that both gestures are acts of reaching out in search of contact, understanding, and meaning. Whether addressed to distant life forms or to forgotten parts of ourselves, the message remains the same: Are you there? Can you hear me?
Sculptural artist Pedro Guarracino creates works that fuse ceramics and crochet, bringing together seemingly contrasting materials to explore the ways in which different artistic traditions can coexist, interact, and transform one another.
"I see my practice as a way to advance the arts by exploring material relationships in ways I haven’t seen before, always searching for new avenues of expression." – Pedro
Much of Pedro's works draws from his family’s migration journey from Italy to Argentina and his own move to Australia, weaving together inherited craft techniques with contemporary sculptural practices.
