Big things have been happening at Art to Art, and one of them is a move to an exciting, brand new space!
Art to Art Director Philippa Demase shares the story of why this move means to much...
If I had to be honest Art to Art started as a bit of a hobby. Iโd stay up late, trawling for new artists and artworks after my โreal jobโ because it lit me up. It also started as a way to help friends in the area find beautiful art for their homes. Iโve always been a huge lover of original art and bought my first piece in my early twenties. That feeling of finding something that made my heart flutter has never left me.
Over time, it turned into a full-blown obsession and eventually became my everything. The first Ah-Hah moment was when I held our first pop-up gallery in Prahran for one weekend only. Once I saw for myself the connection of people falling in love with art - I was addicted. After that, I started running group shows from the ground level of our home, in between school holidays while the kids were still young.
Never in my wildest dreams did I think it would grow like this.
Never did I imagine weโd build such a strong sense of community.
Weโve now grown to represent over 80 amazing artists from all over Australia. Itโs been my absolute privilege to support them and share their work with others.
Now, weโre about to move into a new space. And not just any space. From the moment I walked in, I knew it was the one. Earlier this year, I wrote a letter to the universe (yep, really!) spelling out exactly what we neededโand somehow, it delivered. Right down to the suburb and the vibe of the building. Magic? Maybe. But it felt right.
Weโve loved running the gallery from our home, but itโs time for the next step so weโve put on our big girl pants and are bravely moving forward. Weโre so excited to welcome you to our new space. Itโs light-filled, industrial, and is 3 times bigger than our current space. Which mean three times the art. I believe this might make us the largest commercial gallery in Melbourne!
Plus we have even bigger plans brewing, to make our gallery the most sought out art destination in Melbourne.ย
