FAQ
There are absolutely zero fees to list an artwork on our Secondary Art Market. Our commission is only applicable on the event of a sale.
Pricing your artwork is completely up to you, however there are some factors you may like to consider.
While the value of an original artwork usually increases over time, (particularly as the artist’s profile and the value of their new works also increases), it is important to remember that clients shopping for pre-loved art rarely want to spend more than they would to purchase new.
As we have a commission on sales, this should also be considered in final pricing.
Yes. If at any point you wish to drop the price of your listed artwork, simply reach out to us.
You may also like to consider letting us know a discount price you are happy for us to offer to interested clients if we feel it will help secure a sale.
Additionally, we can automatically lower the price of an artwork after an agreed amount of time (typically 1 month) has passed without a sale.
While we cannot guarantee any timeframes around selling your work, there are some things you can do to improve the attractiveness of your listing.
- Ensure your artwork is priced reasonably and affordably.
- Provide us with clear image that best show off the work (including close-up shots showing detail).
- Let us know a discount value we can offer to a potential buyer if we feel it will help secure a sale.
The Resale Royalty Right for Visual Artists Act 2009, applies to all works resold after 9 June 2010. Under this act a 5% royalty is paid to the original artist (dependant on a few factors, such as total artwork value and date of original sale.)
The Resale Royalty scheme applies to visual artworks of all mediums, and include limited edition prints. As an Secondary Art Market professional, Art to Art is required to send information to the appointed Copyright Agency after every resale of an artwork after the above commencement date, and is required to pay royalty fees on those sales that meet the requirements.
