Acrylic and mixed media on linen, box framed in raw oak.
Where We Belong brings together grounding neutrals and fluid movement in a way that feels calm, connected, and quietly expressive. Painted on raw natural linen, this original abstract artwork focuses on shape, texture, and tone to create a layered sense of depth and stillness.
The palette is earthy and comforting—soft beiges, dusty pinks, layered whites, and a rich Mocha Mousse - Pantone’s 2025 Colour of the Year. It’s the kind of colour that feels timeless and lived-in. Deep, warm, and familiar. Like a space you’ve always belonged to.
This piece is about balance and quiet strength. The marks move loosely across the canvas - some bold and gestural, others soft and barely there. Nothing is forced. Some forms emerged through instinct, others through slow, considered layering. Together, they create a work that’s open to interpretation, yet grounded in feeling.
Rebecca Koerting is a contemporary abstract artist whose work is deeply inspired by nature and the rich landscapes of Australia.
Her paintings are bold and expressive, marked by dynamic compositions of sweeping shapes, layered textures, and vibrant colours. Each piece invites curiosity, encouraging you to linger and discover stories within its layers, while also finding your own connection to the story it holds.
"I grew up in Ocean Grove, a coastal town on Victoria’s Bellarine Peninsula, where the salty air and sandy shores were part of my everyday life. My childhood was shaped by days exploring the beaches and family trips across this vast country—from the turquoise waters of the shoreline to the red earth and ancient markings of Uluru. These experiences have left a lasting impression on me, shaping how I see and interpret the world around me.
Through my art, I try to capture that sense of connection—pieces that feel alive in their imperfections, honest and expressive. Each painting is a reflection of the world as I see it: vibrant, dynamic, and beautifully imperfect."
