Gloria Petyarre is a Utopia artist of the Anmatyerre language group. Gloria’s work is based on the body paint designs for her Dreamings, which include Mountain Devil Lizard, Bush Medicine, Emu, Pencil Yam, Grass Seed, Aknangkere Growth, and Awelye Dreaming. Gloria predominantly paints the leaves of the bush medicine tree. Historically these leaves have been collected by Aboriginal women and then dried, mixed with animal fat and used to cover wounds to aid healing.

The mixture was also applied to act as an insect repellant. As one of the well known founders of the Utopia art movement, Gloria has exhibited her works extensively throughout Australia and internationally, and her works are held in collections including the National Gallery of Australia, and State galleries and Museums in almost every state.
