Melbourne based artist, Carrie Matheson explores the theme of abstraction in her painting practice. Through this abstraction, she delves into the relationships between colours, the randomness of nature, the use and necessity of negative space. The way these values create balance and harmony both in a visual sense and within the viewer is what primarily inspires Carries art. Carrie feels her paintings are reflective of herself; an expressive creative nature that is balanced by a more reserved and at times introverted side. Her works are intuitive, the colours reflecting her moods as she paints.
