Oil on canvas, box framed in white painted oak.
Perth artist Kate Elsey is inspired by her unwavering love of nature, and her expression of it through intricate landscapes, and colour forms works of abstract impressionism. Known primarily for her palette knife techniques of 'scraping' oil paint into the forms and mixes of colour, her works capture an essence of the Australian animals and landscape she is surrounded by. With a particular empathy for the survival of life, Kate Elsey is absorbed in the natural world and the significance of our co-existence; through this lens, she creates tributes shaped by personal experiences.
