Collaborations

The Art of Dining

'The Art of Dining' launched on Tuesday, 22 October 2019, and was a sublime five-course dinner with matching wines that combines fine food and exquisite art.

A collaboration between Art to Art Gallery and fine dining restaurant Mister Bianco, each course interpreted from art to plate by renowned Chef Joseph Vargetto. One of the five courses was served in the dark, with the relevant art piece illuminated - producing a further sensory experience. The event was beautiful captured by photographer Silvia Zanon.

Inspiration

Artist Saren Dobkins has been painting professionally for over 25 years. Originally from Zambia, Africa she has lived in several places both in Australia and overseas, and has recently settled in Tewantin, Qld. Saren's works are evocative interpretations that explore human dilemmas, interactions and desires. Her art can be viewed from a narrative perspective that is expressive and philosophical.

It was this nostalgic representation of relationships and emotional connection that captured the imagination of Chef Joseph Vargetto, and created The Art Of Dining.

"After the nights events I couldn't wait to see how Chef Joe Vargetto interpreted the last dish and artwork titled 'Cracked Open' and we were not disappointed! Saren describes the artwork further...When she cracks the shell, a gentle bird emerges and she is relieved that her courage is rewarded by a gentle kiss. To my surprise the 'yolk' was mango, crispy wafer of sunflower seeds on a semi freedom and pistachio crumbs. Scrumptious!"
– Philippa Demase, Director of Art to Art
