Oil on canvas, framed in raw oak.
Architect turned Artist, Kate takes inspiration from her love of urban built form and its function to elevate the urban landscape, as both familiar subject and contemplative space.
Her work in oil is resonant with instantly recognisable forms, bold colours, and the distinctive light of our Australian urban landscape. When human figures navigate these overlooked environments we imbue our own experiences into our own modern urban existence and this is what Kate enjoys exploring and simplifying on canvas.
Kate continues to explore the simplicity of the suburban and draws inspiration from Jeffrey Smart and John Brack. She was one of our Unearthed Finalists in 2024.
