In my latest series, the female form is contained within the four sides of the canvas. Contained can mean to be controlled or restrained, but it can also mean to hold something within.
The first definition implies an external force is exerting control, whilst the second interpretation relies on the existence of an inner force. I like to think that both meanings exist simultaneously within my work.
