Acrylic on canvas, box framed in raw oak.
Based in Perth, Western Australia, Emilie Maguin is a French visual artist who trained in Aix-en-Provence in the south of France. Following in the footsteps of various influential figures in the art world, Emilie's bold, colourful works are inspired by such names as Henri Matisse, David Hockney, and Vanessa Bell.
Her work is playful, a poetic depiction of the world with a focus on strong colour and pattern. Symbolism and storytelling are the heart of each composition where layers of heavy acrylics, pastels and ink build up the textural plane of the canvas. Emilie’s pieces live in collections all over Australia, as well as in the U.K, Switzerland, France and Japan.
