An artist and art teacher living Brisbane, Krystal Bradford considers herself obsessed with colour, particularly it's ability to evoke emotions, or the capture and convey the essence of a place. It is colour that guides her pieces, inspiring the shapes, textures and layers that make up each composition within her palette. From thin washes of colour to intricate, imperfect marks and symbolic details that nod to the landscape, her works are multi-layered, encourage viewers to look deeply and sit with each piece.
Having grown up amidst the beauty of beaches, bush and rainforest of Yeppoon on the Capricorn Coast, Krystal is endlessly inspired by the diverse landscapes that surround her. The mesmerising way coastlines, mountains, pathways, and water channels flow and change with landscape and time. But it is the connection between people and place that truly resonates in and inspires her works, the deep connection to the places we call home, and the stories, histories, and experiences that are woven into the very fabric of the land.
