“Sometimes I feel I am an abstract artist trapped in the body of a botanical illustrator!
On any given day my background in technical drawing and landscape design might be informing my work, and on another day the art student is in control so you will find both the elements of precise shape and accurate representation alongside strong colour, pattern, and abstract form!
I like how the human brain will interpret what it sees for itself, so my use of floral shapes with pattern or overlapping image is really about letting the viewer see what they see or experience how the painting makes them feel, which will be unique to the person.”
