Onna-Musha were members of the bushi (warrior) class in pre-modern Japan. Many fought in battle alongside Samurai men. Their existence was unique as women were constrained to a rigid social caste in feudal Japan.
This series is a continuation of my love of the skilled martial arts as well as honouring the empowerment of women. These works represent the Onna-Musha in all of us.
