"This was my first time painting on linen and I can say with confidence it won’t be my last. There’s something about the way linen takes oil paint with a subtle, natural tooth that seems to hold the paint in all the right ways. The weave becomes part of the painting itself, adding a depth to my brushstrokes that could be felt as much as seen.
That was especially true with a sky like this, where layers of cloud needed room to breathe and move. Working on linen for the first time felt a bit like discovering a material that had been waiting for me and one that could match the scale and richness of the sky I was trying to create." – Kelly Kondis
