A multi-media artist based in Sydney, George Hall approaches each new work with an openness and optimism, turning 'mistakes' into exciting new directions. His work is spontaneous, whimsical, and with a calm energy, full of experimentation in movement and form, where non-literal, and non-fixed expression guides the viewer to a place of emerging mystery.
George grew up in New Zealand; immersed in rain soaked gardens, rich colours, and joy that infuse his paintings to this day. From an early fascination with craft, he launched into 30 years as a textile designer, reflecting his sense of colour and composition.
Now working mainly in acrylics, George plays with the rules of colour, layers paints and mixed media, incorporates collage, and glazes with brushes, sponges, and rough textured towels.
