Sarah Lugton
Sarah Lugton is a contemporary artist, creating dynamic abstract painting from her studio gallery in Williamstown North, land of the Boon Wurrung people of the Kulin nation. As a mother of two girls, Sarah currently finds time to paint while her children are napping or at kindergarten. Her pieces are intuitive; rhythmic patterns and flows of paint from the brush that reflect nostalgic memories, personal experiences, music, literature and the people in her life. Illusive shapes and patterns occasionally emerge, forming a symbolic language and personal dialogue between the artist and viewer.
There is an intimacy in her works that draws in and reflects; creating a shared journey along the human condition. Working with a spontaneous and intuitive process, the final composition of a piece is not known at the outset. Instead the work reveals itself over time, hidden signs and symbols emerging from Sarah’s past experiences and interests as she works.
