Monique Auricchio

Printmaker and painter Monique Auricchio lives and works in New South Wales, having completed a Bachelor of Visual Arts (Printmaking) at the Canberra School of Art. Celebrated for her techinical skills, imagination and dreamlike imagery, Monique's works are inspired by creatures of the natural world, and the human perceptions of animals. She often uses shadow and dark tones to emphasise foreboding elements to the relationship, or to play with the evoked wonder and interconnectedness of all living beings. While appearing calm on the surface, her work often carries an underlying sense of unease.

Monique Auricchio has held solo exhibitions in Canberra, Melbourne, Sydney and Darwin. Her work was included in ‘Flying Carpet: International women’s travelling print exhibition’ which toured to Switzerland, the Balkans, Spain, Luxembourg, Italy and the United States. In 2006 Auricchio was awarded the Jacques Cadry Art Prize by the State Library of Sydney.
