Amanda Krantz

Amanda Krantz is an artist living and working in her Melbourne based studio. Amanda has done artist residency in Japan, Thailand and Tasmania, and has exhibited throughout Australia, and globally in Italy, Los Angeles, North Carolina and NYC. Amanda considers her work to be organic-psychedelia – familiar representations of ecology, but not quite of this world. She is drawn to the universality of patterns found in nature, from micro to macro – the way a coral reef in Queensland harbours the same patterns as fungi in the alpine region of Tasmania. Through this she follows an extrapolation of imaginings on what could lie beyond our knowledge in interplanetary or inter-dimensional worlds.

Amanda Krantz's process is underpinned by a playful exploration of materials. She often sees herself as facilitator to the materials’ natural ability to create chaotic and randomly beautiful effects. And with the further use of gravity and heat, she employs nature in an attempt to mimic nature. It’s a scientific process, executed organically, creating science fictional and psychedelic landscapes, and quasi-alien life.
