French-Australian artist Stanislas Piechaczek style is one that is unusual, a combination of relaxed calm and jazzed up brushstrokes, depicting figures eating, sun-bathing, or relaxing in laid-back, uncomplicated scenes. With a distinct blend of vivid colours and silhouetted figures moving within his scenes, Stan's works are casual, large scale and uncomplicated.
Born in Issoudun a small town in the Centre-Val de Loire region of France, Stan then moved to the seaside town of Biarritz in the French Basque Country in south-western France and from there came to Australia. From an early age, Stan was drawing and writing poetry which developed over the years into a passionate love of painting and for the past four years he has practiced his art every day. Inspired by all that is around him and his surfer lifestyle, Stan’s colourful, abstracted style of paintings are imaginative scenes of different places characterised by imperfectly marked objects, shapes and darkened figures he calls either silhouettes or shadows. Stan explains,
‘In the case that I haven’t personally linked the shadows or silhouettes to real persons, they carry both the same meaning. They don’t have skin colour nor gender – they are simply whoever you want them to be or even no-one, sometimes just the result of a mood or feeling.’
